About:
Hello! My name is Sophie Rosenthal, and I’m originally from the US and India but I grew up moving back and forth between Massachusetts and Dubai. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from The George Washington University with a B.A. in International Affairs and a minor in Geographic Information Systems.
During my time in college, I worked under Dr. Marya Rozanova-Smith to research the gendered impacts of COVID-19 in the Arctic, developed GIS tutorials for the American Society of Overseas Research’s projects in the MENA region, and tracked colocation capacities globally for TeleGeography. As a result, I have become especially interested in developing and mapping data for regional capacities, cultural preservation, and disaster relief.
After graduation, I joined the Peace Corps and became an environmental volunteer in Paraguay. I am currently there, working with the local municipality and various schools on initiatives to encourage sustainability.
In my free time, you can find me hiking, rock climbing, watching Seinfeld, or taste-testing different types of bread.
