About:
Hello! My name is Sophie Rosenthal, and I’m originally from the US and India but I grew up moving back and forth between Massachusetts and Dubai. I am in my last semester at The George Washington University, studying international affairs with a minor in GIS.
After graduation, I will be joining the Peace Corps and teaching English in the Kyrgyz Republic. During my time in college, I worked under Dr. Marya Rozanova-Smith to research the gendered impacts of COVID-19 in the Arctic, developed GIS tutorials for the American Society of Overseas Research’s projects in the Middle East and Near Mediterranean, and tracked colocation capacities globally for TeleGeography. As a result, I have become especially interested in developing and mapping data for regional capacities, cultural preservation, and disaster relief.
In my free time, you can find me hiking, rock climbing, watching Seinfeld, or taste-testing various breads.
